Opal is a gem formed from silica-rich waters. It takes its name from the Sanskrit word Upala which means precious stone. Later, it would be called Opallios during Roman times. There are two kinds of Opal – the common opal and the precious opal. Opal meaning is amplification, hope, and purity.
An opal doublet is a type of assembled gemstone composed of two layers: a piece of clear or translucent opal and, most often, a piece of black or dark potch (common) opal. The dark backing may also be black industrial glass, hard plastic, brown ironstone, or vitrolite.

For copper wrapped jewelry: Copper needs to be cared for like other metals. Wait to put any copper jewelry on until perfumes, lotions showers until skin is dry. Do not sleep in jewelry store in a box or a bag.
